The film adaptation of Jane Harper's second novel Force of Nature has opened in Australian cinemas.

The team behind the award-winning box office hit The Dry  return for Force of Nature, with Eric Bana reprising his role as Aaron Falk and Robert Connolly back as writer and director.

The film was set for release last August but distributor Roadshow Films and production companies Arenamedia, Made Up Stories and Pick Up Truck Pictures postponed until the Screen Actors Guild strike was resolved.

The film's production followed the runaway success of The Dry, which took $20.7 million at the local box office after its release on New Year's Day 2021.

Jane said it was exciting to see the team behind The Dry bring her second novel to the screen.

"I was absolutely thrilled with the adaptation of The Dry and I can't wait to see this story brought to cinema audiences. I'm delighted that Robert Connolly and Eric Bana have brought their talents to Falk's story for a second time."

Bana is joined by cast members Anna Torv (Mindhunter) as Alice Russell, Deborra-lee Furness (Jindabyne) as Jill Bailey, Robin McLeavy (Homeland) as Lauren, Sisi Stringer (Mortal Kombat) as Beth, Lucy Ansell (Utopia) as Bree and Jacqueline McKenzie (Romper Stomper) as Federal Agent Carmen Cooper.

Jeremy Lindsay-Taylor is back in the role of Erik Falk, alongside Richard Roxburgh as Daniel Bailey, Tony Briggs as Ian Chase and Kenneth Radley as Sergeant King.

Made Up Stories’ Bruna Papandrea, Jodi Matterson and Steve Hutensky are producing alongside Bana for Pick Up Truck Pictures and Connolly for Arenamedia.
